The hot refractory firebox super heats the wood, driving out any moisture. Then the many chemically compounds that comprise the wood, rapidly combust into gases giving a pure clean transparent flame. This is a hallmark of Bellfires that no other open hearth can match. It is also part of our ongoing Research and Development program. We burn different Bellfires fireplaces in our sheet metal shop. Pictured here is a BCC 28 Tall. This beautiful all hand built fireplace is evaluating a new advanced 70% alumina refractory. Note the lack of any smoke. This fireplace burns at over 1200 degrees F easily, all day long. This is called wood gasification.
